Experience at the Core of Strategy

A clear takeaway from the event was Adobe’s shift in philosophy. The focus is no longer on selling software as standalone tools, but rather on delivering seamless, interconnected experiences. Customers expect consistency, speed, and intelligence at every touchpoint, and Adobe is positioning its ecosystem to meet those expectations.

To support this, Adobe is moving from Customer Experience Management (CXM) to Customer Experience Orchestration (CXO). This marks a deeper integration across its product suite including Commerce, Content, Analytics, and Personalisation, and a deliberate effort to break down silos between them. For enterprise merchants, this means more streamlined solution bundles, flexible licensing, and a technology stack that is designed to scale with customer expectations.

From Monolith to Composable Cloud

Adobe Commerce’s architecture is evolving rapidly. What began as a monolithic platform is now becoming a fully SaaS, multi-tenant solution built on a composable model. Innovation cycles are accelerating, and the reliance on patches and manual upgrades is being phased out in favor of automatic, behind-the-scenes updates.

The key architectural developments include:

  • Composable components: Independently deployable services that can be swapped, scaled, and customised without affecting the rest of the platform

  • Cloud-native delivery: With edge delivery services powering the storefront, merchants benefit from faster load times, higher availability, and global scalability

  • Continuous deployment: Updates are no longer tied to version releases. Features and fixes can now be rolled out seamlessly with minimal disruption

These changes result in higher agility for both business and technical teams, supporting faster time to market and reduced operational overhead.

Introducing New Flavours of Adobe Commerce

Adobe is no longer a one-size-fits-all solution. Two new platform options were introduced in addition to the traditional Adobe Commerce to address the diverse needs of merchants:

  • Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service: A full-stack, fully managed SaaS platform designed for businesses looking to start fresh or migrate entirely. It includes edge-powered storefronts, native asset management, a visual content editor, and out-of-the-box merchandising tools.

     

  • Adobe Commerce Optimizer: A top-of-funnel experience layer that overlays any existing commerce backend. It offers a lightning-fast frontend experience, A/B testing capabilities, and metrics visualisation without requiring backend changes. This is ideal for brands that are not ready to replatform but want to modernise the customer experience.

     

This dual offering provides flexibility. Brands can choose a full rebuild or gradually evolve with Optimizer depending on where they are in their digital maturity journey.

Game-Changing Enhancements

Several product and technical enhancements stood out during the event:

Visual Content Editing Without the Dev Bottleneck

Adobe’s team highlighted the new Adobe Experience Manager visual editor that brings drag-and-drop content management to commerce teams. Similar in spirit to popular headless CMS solutions, it empowers marketers to manage pages, blocks, and assets without waiting on developers. This means faster launches, more experimentation, and increased agility in campaign execution.

Extreme Catalog Scalability

Adobe Commerce now supports up to 250 million SKUs and 30,000 price rules. These capabilities unlock new use cases for large-scale B2B operators, marketplaces, and manufacturers. This is a significant upgrade that positions Adobe as a contender for data-heavy commerce environments.

Deployment and Dev Experience Overhaul

Deployment is now exclusively through GitHub, with GitLab no longer supported. Adobe has also introduced an App Builder framework that allows developers to build custom functions using any language, hosted as serverless functions. Combined with API Mesh, a low-code integration gateway, this dramatically reduces the complexity of integrating ERP, CRM, and other external systems.

Other enhancements include new SDKs, pre-built components for checkout and product pages, autoscaling infrastructure, and simplified scaffolding for project kickoffs.

What It Means for Our Clients

For existing Adobe Commerce clients, there is no forced migration. Adobe will continue to support current PaaS customers with patches and security updates. However, the benefits of the new SaaS model including faster performance, easier extensibility, and lower operational overhead make a compelling case for future upgrades.

For new clients, Adobe’s Cloud Service is the recommended path for greenfield builds or full replatforming. For those who want to enhance rather than replace their existing commerce infrastructure, Optimizer provides a low-risk way to improve performance and deliver modern experiences without disruption.

Looking Ahead

Adobe is planning general availability of both Adobe Commerce Cloud Service and Optimizer in June 2025 for the US, with Europe expected to follow in November. Full B2B functionality, including storefront and catalog enhancements, is projected for early 2026.

Is Your Website Ready for the European Accessibility Act in June?

The deadline is fast approaching. By 28 June 2025, businesses offering digital services across the EU must be fully compliant with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) — and with fewer than three months to go, now is the time to act.

Understanding the European Accessibility Act

The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) is a legally binding directive adopted by the European Union to ensure that digital products and services are accessible to people with disabilities. It sets out common rules for accessibility across all member states, making it easier for businesses to understand and meet their obligations while enabling equal access for users across the EU.

The directive applies to a wide range of services, including eCommerce platforms, financial services, ticketing and travel websites, self-service kiosks, and digital publications like eBooks. If you operate in one of these areas and serve customers in the EU, you’re required to comply.

So, what does that actually mean in practical terms?

Meeting the requirements of the EAA involves aligning your website or app with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. The four guiding principles of WCAG are that site should be:

  1. Perceivable: The information you present on your site needs to be perceivable and understandable to people with use of only one sense
  2. Operable: Users need to be able to interact with all elements of the page, even with just a keyboard or voice controls, for example.
  3. Understandable: The content and functionality presented on a web page needs to be easily understood.
  4. Robust: The website needs to effectively transfer information to users, integrating capabilities to support evolving assistive technologies.

For some concrete examples, this could involve:

  • Ensuring all images have descriptive alt text so screen readers can convey meaning to visually impaired users

  • Using sufficient colour contrast between text and background to support readability

  • Making all functionality keyboard-navigable, so users who can’t use a mouse can still access all content

  • Providing clear form labels, error messaging, and logical tab order for improved usability

  • Ensuring video content includes captions or transcripts

  • Avoiding content that could trigger seizures or be disorienting to users with cognitive impairments

It also means thinking about how users interact with your site overall — whether they rely on assistive technologies, have slower internet connections, or are using mobile devices with accessibility features.

The goal is to remove barriers and create a consistent, inclusive experience for all users.

The Risk of Inaction

With enforcement just around the corner, businesses that aren’t already working toward compliance face significant risk. Penalties may vary by member state, but they can include regulatory fines, formal user complaints, or even being barred from certain public sector contracts.

Beyond the legal implications, there’s a reputational risk to consider. Users increasingly expect digital experiences to be accessible and user-friendly. Falling short could harm customer trust, search engine visibility, and overall business performance.

That said, accessibility is also an opportunity. A more inclusive website or app isn’t just a legal win — it also improves usability for all users, expands your reach, and helps your platform perform better across the board.

The Sweater Shop, a beloved Irish family business, partnered with us to revamp their eCommerce site, enhancing performance, visuals, and user experience while staying true to their heritage.

The Sweater Shop, an Irish B2C family business with a rich heritage in crafting high-quality sweaters and knitwear, is renowned for its loyal customer base. Over 70% of their customers have made repeat purchases, proving their commitment to quality and ensuring customer satisfaction. 

To continue delighting their loyal audience and attract new customers, The Sweater Shop sought a complete redesign of their eCommerce site to enhance performance, improve visuals, and provide a seamless shopping experience.

A FEW CHALLENGES

They faced several challenges with their previous website. While their products were crafted with warmth and authenticity, the online shopping experience did not fully reflect these qualities.

Key issues included:

Limited, curated catalogues based on user behaviour enhance the buying experience, making it fast, relevant, and efficient.

Meet Clara

Originally from Caldas da Rainha, a picturesque city just a few kilometres from the seaside, Clara has always had a passion for numbers and financial management. Her journey into accounting started early, and through years of experience, she has honed her skills in financial operations and bookkeeping. 

Clara joined Monsoon Consulting as part of the expansion of our Portugal office and has since played a key role in ensuring our financial processes remain efficient and well-structured.

As an Accounts Administrator, Clara’s role is vital in keeping Monsoon’s financial health in check. She oversees client payments, maintains financial records, and ensures smooth bookkeeping. A Recipe from Clara: Shrimp Vol-au-Vent

Clara recently prepared a delicious Shrimp Vol-au-Vent and shared her recipe with us:

Ingredients:

  • Shrimp
  • Red onion
  • Garlic
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Béchamel made from scratch
  • Puff pastry

Steps:

  1. Sauté the shrimp: Sauté onions and garlic until tender, then add the shrimp, seasoning with salt and pepper at the end.
  2. Prepare the béchamel sauce: Melt butter in a pan, add flour, and mix well. Gradually add milk, stirring continuously until creamy.
  3. Bake the pastry: Cut puff pastry into 5×5 cm squares and bake in a preheated oven until golden.
  4. Assemble: Add the shrimp sauté and béchamel sauce to the pastry, and voilà—ready to serve!
